Our History
The Tucson Thunderbird Club was founded around 1977. Our recent
membership has usually been 75-100 members, most of whom are from the Tucson
region, but we always welcome anyone, even those from out-of-state.
The beautiful climate here is always an encouragement for the
many car shows and outings of all sorts that we can dream up. Over the years we
have displayed our treasures at car shows, picnics and drive-in get-togethers,
all for the enjoyment of our friends and our common interest in our cars. The
year of car we own does not matter; we all share an interest in and admiration
of those who sport the Thunderbird badge.
We hope to deliver in later postings some of the stories of our
members' adventures, both whimsical and perilous - tales of the many shows in
the region, the picnics and caravans with other car clubs, and the tribulations
of our struggles to keep our precious 'Birds running right. We will try to
display as many photos as we can of our current and past members' T-Birds, and
the stories behind them.
As we have said, the real purpose of the Tucson Thunderbird Club
is to celebrate the fun of owning a Thunderbird and sharing that fun with those
around us. Please feel free to contact us with ideas and suggestions on how to
further that goal.
